Getting from Split Airport to the city

Split Airport is near Kaštela towards Trogir, about 20 km from Split and 6 km from Trogir. Choose the city connection according to your final address and luggage, rather than treating arrival at a bus station as arrival at your room. The main choices are a direct airport shuttle, public transport, a taxi or a prearranged transfer. Renting a car makes sense to compare when driving forms part of the wider trip.

The direct shuttle runs between the airport and Split's main bus station without intermediate stops. The drive takes about 30 minutes depending on traffic. Departures from the airport are described as approximately 30 minutes after flight arrival, rather than a fixed service every half hour. Leave room for the road journey when arranging an onward sailing or a timed meeting in town.

A single shuttle ticket costs EUR 10 and a return ticket EUR 15; children under 6 travel free. Advance online purchase is recommended, and sales points are described at the airport and bus station. For the city to airport direction, one suitcase is included and a QR code is sufficient. Arrange the ticket before boarding rather than relying on a purchase from the driver.

Public buses and the last part of the journey

Public buses serve Split and Trogir, with tickets available through the transport app or on the bus. Line 37 appears as the Split, Airport and Trogir connection in the published 2025 timetable. Look up the current departure and destination stop for the day you travel. For comparing it with the shuttle, include the route from the bus stop to your final address as well as the time aboard.

Choose your arrival plan alongside your accommodation area. Someone staying around the historic centre has different final directions from someone heading towards a beach or continuing to an island. Keep the accommodation address accessible, together with any meeting instructions. If a step-free journey matters, ask about the actual entrance and final walking route rather than judging them from the neighbourhood name.

Taxi and transfer from Split Airport (SPU)

The airport has a taxi stand by the terminal. A prearranged transfer is another way to organise the road journey to Split or the Old Town. Give the exact destination address and match the vehicle to your party and luggage. Compare the quoted journey, meeting arrangements and destination together, rather than using a general city name as the full instruction.

For an Old Town stay, agree where the road journey ends and where the walk to the entrance begins. An address in the historic centre does not by itself describe the vehicle approach. Keep your arrival details and accommodation contact at hand so the final part of the journey is clear. Treat the transfer time as dependent on traffic when arranging your first activity.

Car rental and parking

Rental car access is provided at SPU. Compare collection on landing with collecting a car only for the days you intend to drive. Airport parking and parking at your accommodation are separate costs. Our car rental and parking guide sets out the airport tariffs and the seasonal charges at Stari plac, so you can weigh driving against the shuttle and organised excursions.

Reaching the ferry harbour

Split's ferry harbour is immediately beside the city centre. Plan the airport road journey and the sailing as separate legs, allowing for luggage and boarding arrangements. The ferry guide explains why the destination port and the line's reservation conditions matter. Keep the exact harbour destination on your ticket in view when choosing an island connection.
