Split Ferry Guide: Port, Catamarans and Island Routes

Choose your Split ferry by arrival port and whether you need to take a car. Supetar, Stari Grad and Rogač have different ticket rules, while an excursion catamaran offers a separate kind of day at sea.

Choosing a Split ferry and airport transfer

A Split ferry journey starts with the destination port, rather than just the island name. A car ferry and a passenger catamaran serve different needs, and an organised sightseeing cruise is another product again. Decide whether you need your vehicle on the island, then compare the outward and return sailings for your exact date. Keep the arrival port alongside the accommodation address when planning the onward journey.

The ferry harbour is immediately beside the city centre. This makes Split a useful place to combine an island connection with a city stay, but a flight arrival still needs a separate road journey from Split Airport. Allow room between connections for baggage, traffic and finding the boarding area. A scheduled crossing time is only the sea part of that journey.

For independent travel, start with the line and its ticket conditions. For a day with swimming stops and a guided visit, consider the boat excursion formats instead. The distinction matters most when comparing prices: transport to a port and a programme of activities do different jobs.

Supetar on Brač: fares and departure choice

Line 631 connects Split and Supetar throughout the year, with a crossing of about 50 minutes. Its ticket covers a journey on the line on the stated date; it does not secure a particular departure. Take this into account when planning a return followed by another fixed connection. Buying a ticket and having a reserved vehicle space are different questions.

The 2026 fare, valid from 1 January to 31 December, is EUR 6.50 for an adult and EUR 3.20 for a child aged 3 to 12. A regular car in the small vehicle category costs an additional EUR 26.10, with passengers charged separately. These are the general visitor fares, rather than island resident concessions. The Supetar tariff applies throughout that period, so a winter trip should use the same published fare basis.

Our picks: A catamaran day trip

For a guided outing rather than a ferry crossing, this catamaran includes swim breaks and a meal.

A guided catamaran day from Split

This is an organised catamaran excursion with swimming breaks and a guided Hvar visit, not a scheduled ferry ticket for independent island transport.

Hvar: Stari Grad or Hvar town

Car ferry line 635 arrives in Stari Grad. A direct passenger catamaran to Hvar town has a different arrival point, so choose according to the journey you want to make after landing. The operator lists reservations for the Stari Grad ferry and local catamarans. Use the conditions of the actual line rather than extending one route's rules to all departures from Split.

Timetable seasons and fare seasons are separate. A change in the number of departures does not necessarily mark a change in the ticket price. Read the date range and any notes for specific weekdays and dates together, especially when travelling near a seasonal boundary. For onward planning on the island, Plan your visit to Hvar.

Šolta: arrival in Rogač

The car ferry on line 636 reaches Rogač in about 60 minutes and is booked for a selected departure. Rogač is the island's main port; it is not a direct arrival in Maslinica. Bus connections are described towards Stomorska in the east and Maslinica in the west, so include the onward leg in your plan rather than treating the ferry arrival as the end of the journey.

The provisional 2026 timetable distinguishes low, shoulder and high seasons and includes notes for individual days. Read the calendar for both directions. For island details, Plan your visit to Šolta.

Weather and a workable return

The Split to Pučišća departure at 16:30 on 2 November 2026 was cancelled because of weather. That notice concerned that particular sailing. Look at the current notice for your own route before leaving for the port, and keep a return plan that can absorb disruption. Our accommodation area guide helps if an overnight stay in Split fits your itinerary better than a tight onward connection.

Ferry planning questions

Does a Supetar ticket reserve my departure?

The line 631 ticket is valid for a journey on the specified date, without guaranteeing one particular departure. Plan the boarding arrangements separately from the ticket purchase.

Are car passengers included in the vehicle fare?

For the Supetar tariff above, the car and people are charged separately. Select the vehicle category and each passenger when calculating your journey.

Is the excursion catamaran a ferry transfer?

It is a guided day excursion with swimming breaks and time in Hvar, rather than a line ferry ticket. Choose it for the day's programme, and use scheduled transport for independent island connections.
